Grow Notes
Plant in full or part sun in well-drained soil. Once seedlings are big enough plant into the garden, in well drained soil enriched with compost, 30cms apart in 80cm rows. Or grow in containers.

Keep plants well-watered during dry periods to promote rapid, uninterrupted growth. Celery grows best when it has constant moisture, and relatively cool temperatures. It cannot tolerate high heat conditions. Pick outside stalks as required or tie celery plants together to prevent sprawling and to blanch the interior.

Sow
Plant celery seeds about 10-12 weeks before the last frost date in spring (around August/September in Perth). In other mild areas, sow from Autumn to early spring.

Plant seeds 3mm deep in seed raising mix or sow direct.

Keep soil moist, not wet.

Be careful when transplanting as celery develops a tap root that is easily damaged.

Germination
14-21 days at 20-25°C

Maturity
120 days.
