TOMATILLO VERDE PUEBLA JUST GORGEOUS AS A PLANT AND THE FRUITS ARE AMAZING TOO! TOMATILLO IS ONE HARD TO FIND FRUIT!!!

Tomatillos are underappreciated by Australian gardeners – mainly as they are so hard to find!

Tomatillo is an essential ingredient of salsa and this variety is one of the best for making Green Mexican salsa.

The fruit grow to about 3-5cm in diameter The fruit are picked when the husk dries and starts to flake off. At this stage the fruit will be loose on the stalk and easily plucked from the plant.

Rub the husk off and eat fresh from the plant, use in your Mexican cooking or invent a dish of your own. The plant will grow in the same conditions as a vine tomato but tends to spread a little so it will need staking or caging.

The plants are easy to grow and yield tons of husked fruit; under normal circumstances they have a long harvest season. Chopped with onions or scallions, peppers, vinegar, salt, and coriander, they make a terrific salsa verde–the green salsa commonly found at Mexican restaurants. When ripe, the fruits produced by this variety are larger and more yellowish-green than most.
