Here comes Autumn!

Here comes the cool!

The Summer is finally coming to a close! Easter Eggs have appeared in the shops and although last week we had a 39 degree day, soon the weather will be cooling down!

Autumn has always been my favourite season. The time when everything bursts with its last display of beauty as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.

The fireworks of some flowers are coming to an end, but many stir into life now and burst out in a display that gladdens the heart. The garden is still growing strongly, putting on leaves to guard against the coming cold and the weather continues to nurture all types of vegetables as our Autumn is warm and long. Then come the rains that sweeten the earth and encourage our friendly earthworms to start back towards the surface, digging among the decayed leaves and flowers that fall.

It isn’t as hot so gardening becomes a joy again and heavier jobs can be tackled that the heat just would not let us attempt. And the flies die off allowing us to stop the Aussie salute!

Winter veggies are planned for and seeded so their bounty can be made into pumpkin, leek and potato and tomato soup to warm the soul in winter.

I love Autumn! To me it’s the best season of the year!
