An heirloom beetroot with a sweet flavour. Egyptian beetroot is a flatter beet with smooth skin and a deep red, tender and delicious taste. Roots grow mainly above the surface of the soil in a well-drained and sunny position and once harvested, will store well. Fast growing.
This high yielding variety has good internal colouring and excellent taste. It is suited to both early and main crops and can be grown in containers all year round. It is resistant to downy mildew and does well in all kinds of soils. It is recommended as a good cultivar to use for succession sowings.
Grow Notes
Plant seeds in moist well drained soils during Spring, Summer and Autumn. Avoid planting in extremely hot or cold weather which can affect germination and growth. Grown in full sun.
Sow
Sow direct at 15mm depth. Space plants at 10cm with 50cm rows. Beetroot seeds are clustered together with each cork-like fruit containing two or three seeds.
Keep soil moist but never wet or dry.
Once germinated, thin out early to avoid root disturbance. Use the first thinning as salad leaf, the next as baby beets then let the rest mature on.

Maturity
30 days for baby leaf or 60 days for Beets. Hardy Biennial but usually grown as an annual.
