Native to tropical America, these annual plants were cultivated and selected by Native Americans since prehistoric times. Their specific region of origin remains unknown due to their widespread distribution by humans.

Capsicums were introduced to Europeans during the Columbian Exchange. Since then, numerous unique varieties have been developed in Europe, particularly in warm Mediterranean countries like Spain, Italy, and Greece, where they thrive.

Capsicums are warm-season vegetables that are easy to grow if provided with the right conditions.

These plants flower and fruit abundantly year-round. Capsicums can be both ornamental and delicious, making them ideal for bedding or container plants as well as staples in vegetable gardens.
