Thumbelina grows strong and sturdy stems and cute little cobs! Primarily a corn for popping, it can be made into flour, popped into stews and hotpots, in fact anything that takes a longer time to cook.

Grow Notes
Corn prefers full sun, with moist, well-draining soil. Corn grows rapidly and is a heavy feeder so be sure to add lots of compost and well-rotted manure to the soil prior to sowing.

If planting more than 1 variety of corn, take steps to make sure they do not cross pollinate.

Corn cobs need to remain on the plant until the husks are completely dry to allow the corn to develop the coloured kernels. Once harvested remove the husks and air-dry cobs for 7-14 days prior to being popped or ground.

Sow
In late Spring and early Summer, sow direct at 20mm depth and 15cm spacing in blocks of at least three rows with 20cm spacing (rather than a single long row) for good pollination.

Keep soil moist but never wet.

Germination
5-14 days at 16-35°C

Maturity
80- 100 days.
