GERANIUM COLORAMA MIX REDS PINKS WHITES SALMON AND MIXED COLOURS EASY GROWER! $3.50 $3.25
Geranium ‘Colorama Mix’ is a vibrant, hardy variety known for its mix of bold flower colours, including reds, pinks, whites, and salmon. Originally developed from the species Pelargonium native to South Africa, these geraniums were selectively bred for their adaptability, drought tolerance, and bright, long-lasting blooms. They have since become popular around the world, thriving in various climates and loved for their resilience and striking colours.
To grow Geranium ‘Colorama Mix’ from seed, sow them in early spring for a summer bloom, or in late winter if you’re using an indoor seed-starting setup. Begin by preparing seed trays or small pots with a quality seed-raising mix, as geraniums need well-draining soil to thrive. Press the seeds into the surface of the soil, covering them lightly with no more than 3 mm of soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged, as geranium seeds need moisture but are prone to rotting if overly wet. Maintain temperatures between 20°C and 25°C for optimal germination, which usually occurs in 7 to 21 days.
Once the seedlings develop their first true leaves, they can be carefully transplanted into larger pots or directly into the garden. Geraniums prefer a full sun to partial shade position, particularly in warm regions of Australia. They require well-draining, neutral to slightly acidic soil, ideally with a loamy or sandy texture. Regular watering is essential, especially during dry spells, but avoid letting the soil become overly soggy, as geraniums are sensitive to root rot. A balanced, slow-release fertiliser applied every few weeks supports strong growth and encourages more blooms.
To keep the plants looking their best, deadhead spent flowers and trim any yellowing or damaged leaves.
