Juncus effusus ‘Spiralis’ – Corkscrew Rush Seeds

Looking for something a bit weird and wonderful? Meet Juncus effusus ‘Spiralis’, also known as Corkscrew Rush. This eye-catching ornamental features bright green, twisted stems that curl and spiral in every direction like nature’s own green spaghetti. It’s a must-have for modern containers, quirky garden corners, or ponds that need a little flair.

This plant loves moisture and thrives in soggy soils, pond margins, or even pots standing in water. It grows to around 30–45 cm tall and is frost-hardy in most areas of Australia. The unique spiral stems are evergreen in mild climates and hold their shape beautifully year-round.

We’re proud to offer viable seeds so you can grow your own corkscrew rush from scratch. Growing from seed takes patience, but the result is a one-of-a-kind addition to any garden.

To grow: Sow in early spring. Scatter seeds on the surface of a moist seed-raising mix. Do not cover—these seeds need light to germinate. Keep warm (18–22°C) and moist at all times – you can use a takeaway container or dampen some hand towels, put your seed on the top in a  zip lock bag. put it on a bright windowsill. Germination may take several weeks. Transplant once seedlings are large enough to handle, and keep soil damp for best results.

Perfect for bog gardens, water features, and pots that stand out from the crowd. Kangaroos and rabbits tend to ignore it, but people will definitely notice!
