WATERMELON CHARLESTON GREY CANDY RED A HUGE NEAR SEEDLESS VARIETY SEEDS $2.30 $1.50

GRAB THIS RARE NEAR-SEEDLESS VARIETY THAT IS JUICY AND SWEET – FAMILY SIZED LARGE MELONS! CHARLESTON GREY! A TRUE AUSSIE FAVOURITE!

Heirloom. The classic oblong watermelon, Charleston Grey has red, fibreless flesh and a tough, medium-thick grey-green rind often used for making watermelon rind pickles. At one time this was the predominant watermelon in home gardens and markets.

This seed was grown from watermelon plants that originated in 1954 at the USDA Southern Vegetable Breeders Lab in Charleston, South Carolina. It is not a seedless but has a low seed count, it’s a very tasty and juicy variety. Resistant to wilt which takes flowers off the vine, this will grow in sandy soils but will need some organic matter dug in, slow watering just a few days before picking so the vine puts its sugars into the melons.

Delicious! Make these a part of your garden – excellent for coverage of bare soils too!
