CHICORY WILD HERB CHICORIUM INTYBUS COTTAGE GARDEN HERBAL SEEDS COFFEE SUBSTITUTE $1.70

SUCH A STUNNING BLUE COLOUR TO THE HUNDREDS OF FLOWERS, PLUS IT’S A USEFUL PLANT TO HAVE IN THE GARDEN! A COFFEE SUBSTITUTE, THE MEDICINAL/HERBAL PROPERTIES ARE USUALLY DRUNK BY MAKING A TEA.

Chicory roots are the best known way of harvesting but leaves and flowers are also useful! Pick young leaves as older ones become more bitter as they age.

To roast chicory root to make coffee or tea, chop it up into 2cm bits after cutting it free at the crown area which separates it from the plant stem. Next, place the root bits on an ungreased baking sheet and place them in a 76 C oven for approximately 5 to 7 hours – or in a dehydrator on the herbs and nut setting for a similar amount of time.
