GERANIUM PINTO WHITE TO ROSE STARTS PURE WHITE THEN PALE PINK AND FINISHES WITH A ROSY BLUSH! $4.50

ALL THE COLOURS ON EACH FLOWER AT ONCE! FROM WHITE TO PINK AND THEN ROSE!

Geranium ‘Pinto White to Rose’ is a stunning annual variety known for its eye-catching blooms, which start as a crisp white and gradually develop a soft pink hue, eventually maturing to a rosy blush. This unique colour shift brings a dynamic, almost magical quality to gardens and pots alike, making it a popular choice among garden enthusiasts. Originally developed from traditional geranium varieties, this cultivar is admired worldwide, but its genetic origins can be traced to the wild geraniums native to South Africa. Over the years, geraniums have been selectively bred for their vibrant, long-lasting flowers and resilience in a variety of climates, making them an excellent addition to Australian gardens.

To grow Geranium ‘Pinto White to Rose’ from seed, start in early spring for a summer bloom, or in late winter if you’re using an indoor setup. Geranium seeds require a warm and bright location to germinate well, as well as a consistently moist, well-draining soil. Prepare seed trays or small pots by filling them with quality seed-raising mix, pressing the seeds gently into the surface without burying them too deep—about 3mm under the surface is ideal. Cover lightly with a fine layer of soil and keep the mix moist but not overly wet. Maintain a temperature range between 20 and 25°C, as geraniums germinate best in warm conditions. Within 7 to 21 days, you should see the seeds begin to sprout.

Once the seedlings have developed a few true leaves, they can be carefully transplanted into larger pots or directly into the garden. Geraniums prefer full sun to partial shade and do well in a sunny spot with shelter from harsh midday heat, particularly in warmer regions of Australia.

They require well-draining soil, and a slightly sandy or loamy soil mix with a neutral pH is ideal. Regular watering is essential, especially in dry periods, but ensure that the soil does not become waterlogged as this can lead to root rot. A light feeding with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser every few weeks will support healthy growth and abundant blooms throughout the growing season.

In addition to regular watering and feeding, it’s beneficial to deadhead spent flowers and remove any yellowing leaves to encourage continuous blooming.
