Growing best in temperate climates, it has been grown for centuries as a food and fibre crop. Textiles are woven from flax including linen.

Grow Notes

Linseed prefers full sun, a compost rich soil and should be planted at the end of Winter or in early Spring, it can handle cold temperatures down to 2C so frost us not usually an issue.

Sow
Prepare soil for sowing by weeding and cultivating soil. Sow direct. This can be achieved by scattering over the soil surface and then raking and watering in or covering with a layer of soil. Make sure the seeds are in direct contact with the soil before covering.

To prolong flowering season thin flowers. Should be cut back to ground level in the autumn.
