Long lived (several years) in most temperate areas, it can also be grown as an annual in cooler climates. They like full sun, well-drained soil, lots of nutrition and medium water. It requires a fair bit of space if left to scramble but it can be grown vertically hence saving lots of space! One of these growing over a trellis would look amazing when it grows the fruits!

Grow Notes
Prefers full sun in fertile, well-draining soil.

Has some resistance to mildew making it great for tropical areas, but water roots not leaves.

Sow
Sow direct in Spring, planting seeds at a depth of 1.5cm with 1 metre to 1.5 metre plant spacing.

Keep soil moist, not wet.

7-14 days at 22-28°C

If they are getting messy you can trim back the plant over the cooler seasons and wait until they sprout again.
